What to see near The Stanley Hotel
Bear Lake sits less than an hour from your front door, and it earns every minute of the drive. You step out of the car and the peaks are already there, filling the sky above the treeline in a way that feels almost theatrical. The lake itself is small enough to walk around in half an hour, calm enough on still mornings that Hallett Peak doubles itself in the water below. If you have the legs for it, the trail continues up to Dream Lake and then Emerald Lake, each one tucked deeper into the cirque, each one quieter than the last. The crowds thin as the elevation climbs. By the time you reach the upper basin, the rock walls close in and the world goes very still.
